93 Million Miles..

93 Million Miles by Jason Mraz..
I'm writing this while the song is playing repeatedly on my phone...
Really love this song, so easy listening, and of course have a deep meaning.

I think this song is perfect to describe what I am right know, what I've gone through, and what should I set my mind of to...

The Lyrics:

93 million miles from the Sun, people get ready get ready,
'cause here it comes it’s a light, a beautiful light, over the horizon into our eyes
Oh, my my how beautiful, oh my beautiful mother
She told me, "Son in life you’re gonna go far, and if you do it right you’ll love where you are
Just know, that wherever you go, you can always come home"

240 thousand miles from the Moon, we’ve come a long way to belong here,
To share this view of the night, a glorious night, over the horizon is another bright sky
Oh, my my how beautiful, oh my irrefutable father,
He told me, "Son sometimes it may seem dark, but the absence of the light is a necessary part.
Just know, you’re never alone, you can always come back home"

You can always come back…back…

Every road is a slippery slope
There is always a hand that you can hold on to.
Looking deeper through the telescope
You can see that your home’s inside of you.

Just know, that wherever you go, no you’re never alone, you will always get back home

93 million miles from the Sun, people get ready get ready,
'cause here it comes it’s a light, a beautiful light, over the horizon into our eyes…

Take Self-Portrait When Solo Travel

Since I love to take photos and love to be inside the photos (hahaha), these tips are really important!

This is a nice article from Solo Traveler Blog :

The Tricks of a Solo Photographer

Capturing the moment in photographs is as important to solo travelers as it is to anyone.
And while it’s fine that we’re not in most of the shots, it would be nice to have the occasional photo as evidence that we were actually there.
Everyone likes photos of themselves – including solo travelers.
(Especially me!!!)

The Hazards of Self-portrait Photography

But there are hazards to taking your own photo. With most cameras, you won’t be able to look through the viewfinder and take your photo at the same time. There’s a lot of guess-work involved – and a lot of room for errors such as:
  • A chopped off head.
  • The “Kilroy Was Here” effect (peaking up at the bottom).
  • The horrors of a double chin you didn’t know you have (and needn’t show). --> (this is what PhotoWonder are for :P If you are an iPhone user, you must know this hahaha)
  • Massive dark circles under your eyes caused by light from above. (again, PhotoWonder will do its job for you)
  • Disappearing altogether because of a back light (particular problem of mine with white hair).
The list goes on.

How to Take Your Own Photo

Fortunately, with a bit of practice, you can avoid these problems and take great self-portraits. To master the one handed, no viewfinder shot:
  • Shoot yourself using the widest angle your camera offers. Zooming in leaves too little room for error.
  • Extend your arm fully. Again, this gives you more room to get it right plus it will show where you are – the background will show.
  • Hold your extended arm at the same angle whenever possible. Through hit and miss, you can discover the best angle to show your best side.
  • Be aware of how you hold your head and be consistent with it as well (to avoid the double chin challenge.)
  • Make sure that there are no smoke stacks or flower pots positioned behind your head (so that they don’t appear to be springing out of your head in the photo).
  • Be aware of the location of the sun to avoid ghastly shadows under the eyes or the silhouette effect.
  • Don’t be shy to send a big smile into the camera. So what if people around are looking at you oddly. You’re happy and your photos should reflect that.
  • Delete all horrible pictures of you. I have no really bad ones to show because I’ve already deleted them.

contohnya foto2 sendiri yg berhasil :D

Another option for the solo photographer

Only recently did I buy an iPhone and one of the big surprises was the ability to see myself as I take my own photograph. However, I think I will stick with my method with my camera for a number of reasons. It offers a wider angle making it easier to get more in the picture, the photo is larger and the quality is better. However, in a pinch the phone is a great solution.
(long story short: pake iPhone atau smartphone lain kalo butuh nampang-on-the-go :D Tapi kalo butuh nampang yang rada banyak dan tempat memungkinkan, alias ada tempat datar buat naruh kamera baru pake digicam, atau kalo kita tebel muka, minta orang sekeliling buat motoin, hahahaha)
Personally, kalo aku solo traveling ntar, untuk masalah dokumentasi, cukup berbekal iPhone dan kamera Prosumer Fujifilm yg biasanya aku pake buat foto2 cosplay :D More than enough for capturing the journey :)

Woman Solo Traveller?

Akhir-akhir ini lagi sangat-sangat tertarik tentang Solo Traveller, khususnya woman solo traveller. Since I moved to this city, my passion changed. No longer in cosplaying. I think I've found new passion : travelling, solo or not. But since I don't have any brothers or sisters and my bestfriends are busy with their family, works, etc, I have to learn to go solo :)

Sebenernya go solo itu bukan hal baru sih, dari jaman muda aku suka go solo, klo shopping, ngemall, ato sekedar puter-puter kota. Bahkan kalo lagi bete juga kadang pengennya driving alone around the city :) But travelling? Bisa dibilang semi-solo sih, waktu dinas ke SGP tahun lalu, emang berangkatnya bareng2, seminar juga bareng2, tapi selepas itu, go solo exploring the city, and I really enjoyed it! Walking around singapore day and night alone, sitting on coffee shop alone, sight-seeing and people-watching, and of course.. shopping! :D

Jadi pengen ngerencanain solo travelling :) Tapi karena masih first-time, mungkin tujuannya yg paling nyaman aja kali ya, dan aman, dan deket, dan udah pernah. Perfect place: Singapore again! I really fall in love with that city! :D

Persiapan awal: baca-baca! Baca informasi sebanyak mungkin soal solo travelling, termasuk baca blog2 juga :) One of my favourie blog about solo traveller : Solo Traveller Blog. Khususnya krena authornya woman :) So solo travelling not only for man, but woman too :)

One of the interesting articles :

Solo Travel FAQ
Why would I want to travel solo?
There are many, many reasons to travel solo:
  • To discover who you are when no one is looking.
  • To exercise and practice independence and gain confidence.
  • To free yourself of daily responsibility to a partner and/or children.
  • To prove to your parents your ability to live independently.
  • To do what you want when you want.
  • To meet more people than you do when you travel with others.
There are dozens of reasons to travel alone.
Do I need to be single?
No you don’t. Coupled people can take separate holidays and return to their partner rewed and with new stories to tell.
Do I need to be an extrovert?
Absolutely not. Introverts can simply have a quiet holiday if that is what they choose but, while traveling solo, many people learn how to act like extraverts and enjoy meeting people.
(I'm an introvert, but can be extrovert if needed :P )
Do I need a lot of money?
While taking tours or cruises can be more of a challenge because of the single supplement, it is possible to avoid it. If traveling independently, B&Bs and hostels are affordable and work very well for solo travelers.
Do I have to eat alone?
While you will likely have a number of meals alone this won’t be the case all the time. By choosing to eat at a bar or at restaurants with communal tables or in coffee shops where there is a lot going on, you often end up eating and chatting with others.
(I really don't mind eating alone, malah kadang2 bisa menikmati juga people-watching)
Do I need a black belt in something to be safe?
Safety is more about strength of character than physical strength. It is about choosing the right way to do things and avoiding the wrong ways.
(This is important, ga pengen terlantar di negeri orang karena kecopetan ~_~)
What kind of accommodation works best?
If you want to be social, avoid chain hotels and go to boutique hotels, bed & breakfasts or hostels. The latter two especially are great for their common rooms and breakfasts that are eaten with other travelers.
Do I have to be a certain age?
People from twenty to eighty years of age travel solo. How people travel at different life stages may vary but I have met people of all ages on road.
(Agreed!!!)
